We are a Parent Partnership Program where parents of home schooled children and teachers from the Deer Park School District work together to define the educational goals and materials our parents and students use at home. The first session of Home Link started in September 2000 with 38 students. Today, we have over 500 students. We also provide core and enrichment classes at our Deer Park and Clayton campuses.

What's New at Home Link

WE NEED TO KNOW IF YOUR CHILDREN ARE OR ARE NOT TAKING THE HSPE OR MSP.
Please sign up for these events by clicking Events Sign Up on the left then click the plus sign next to the HSPE or MSP event. Please check if your child will or will not be taking the exam. Please indicate whether your child will or won't be testing each day the exams run. Dates are as follows: HSPE sessions will be held March 16th, 17th and 18th (Reading and Writing) and April 13th and 15th (Math and Science) beginning at 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. respectively. MSP sessions will be held May 12th, 13th and 14th beginning at 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. respectively. Remember, you must sign up or opt out for each day the exams run.
We need to know how many to expect to adequately plan for the space and supplies.

MARCH 8TH – 12TH, 2010

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
This would be a great time to send thank you notes to the members of the House Ways and Means Committee and your district representatives for reinstating funding for ALE programs. Handwritten notes from children (maybe with their pictures) would be powerful. Again, thank you to all who took the time to be involved. I’m sure there will be more opportunities in the future!

SILVERWOOD DEADLINE IS HERE!!
If your children are reading to earn tickets to Silverwood, your tally sheets must be returned no later than this Thursday, March 11th. If your children do not return a tally sheet, they will not receive tickets to Silverwood.

NO SCHOOL THIS FRIDAY - MAR. 12TH. The Home Link office will be closed.

NEXT WEEK IS SPIRIT WEEK, March 16th – 19th!! AND NEXT FRIDAY IS THE GAME!!
Tuesday is Tropical Island Day, Wednesday is Mis-match Day, Thursday is Sports Day. Prizes will be awarded during lunch for the best costume each day. Of course, no swim suits or short shorts!
Game Night is Friday, Mar. 19th, 6:00 at the Middle School
If you would still like to join a team, practices are this Tuesday, Mar. 9th and next Tuesday, Mar. 16th. You must attend at least one practice to play at the game.
Concessions will be served on Game Night from 6:00 – 7:30. Hot dogs - .50, chips - .50 and drinks - .25 Bring the whole family. Entertainment will be provided by our dance and drill teams.

STATE ASSESSMENT HELPS
We now have student workbooks and teachers guides for the MSP (the state assessment for 3rd – 8th grades). Ask Connie for a copy! We bought these for you – so please take advantage of them.

AND SPEAKING OF STATE ASSESSMENTS…
We really need to have an accurate count of those taking the test. Please register on-line for the high school or MSP tests.

HSP – HIGH SCHOOL PROFICIENCY EXAM IS NEXT WEEK.
The reading and writing portions will be administered Tues – Th (16th – 18th) at Clayton. The tests begin at 9:00 am. Please bring no. 2 pencils. We will provide snacks. The final prep session is this Thursday, Mar. 11th at 4:00 in the Deer Park science room.
