HOME LINK MEMO
February 8th – 12th, 2010
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!
WE NEED YOUR HELP!! OUR LUNCH COUNT HAS BEEN WAY – WAY OFF!!!!
Last week we ran out of food because only half of the families who wanted lunch called in. We feel terrible when we have to quickly make a peanut butter sandwich for a hungry child who is expecting a hot lunch. And we don’t always have sandwich makings on hand. Please – Please call in by 9:00 each morning if you want your children to have hot lunch. Also, you can check the menu and contact us through our web page at homelink.dpsd.org.
HOME LINK FAMILY LOSES HOME TO FIRE
Another Home Link family lost their home and most of their belongings to a fire last week. There is a need for donations and these can be given at the Deer Park front desk.
WINTER BREAK IS ALMOST HERE!!
School will be closed for winter break this coming Friday and Monday, Feb.12 and 15. All district offices will be closed.
MAP ASSESSMENTS
The winter assessment window is open until the end of February. You may sign up on-line for either a morning or afternoon session for Friday, Feb. 19th or 26th.
LIBRARY POLICIES
Just a reminder that families may not check out any materials if they have any over dues.
HIGH SCHOOL PROFICIENCY EXAM PREP IS THIS WEDNESDAY AT 4:00 IN THE DEER PARK SCIENCE ROOM. Upcoming sessions are: Feb. 18th, 23rd, Mar. 3rd and Mar. 11th. Reading and Writing tests are March 16th – 18th.
CLAYTON LOCK DOWN
Last Tuesday, Feb.9th, there was a short lock down at our Clayton site in the late afternoon. A man, carrying a rifle, was walking down the street that borders the school. We secured the building and called 911. The police responded very quickly and we learned that there was no threat. However, I am grateful to the Clayton staff for acting quickly and taking the safety of our students seriously.
QUOTABLE QUOTE
I have learned that good judgment comes from experience and that experience grows out of mistakes.
