We are a Parent Partnership Program where parents of home schooled children and teachers from the Deer Park School District work together to define the educational goals and materials our parents and students use at home. The first session of Home Link started in September 2000 with 38 students. Today, we have over 500 students. We also provide core and enrichment classes at our Deer Park and Clayton campuses.

HOME LINK MEMO
January 25th – 29th, 2010
“OUR BEST FOR EVERY FAMILY’S BEST”

HSPE (HIGH SCHOOL PROFICIENCY EXAM) PREP
The HSPE is the replacement for the WASL for the 10th grade. Lower grades will take the MSP (Measurement of Student Progress). These tests are similar to the WASL but shorter. The extended response (4 point) questions have been eliminated. The tests are still given at the same grade levels but will take fewer days to administer.

It is already time for tenth graders to begin preparing for the exam. Tenth graders must pass the reading and writing portions of the test in order to earn a diploma. Our first prep session is next Tuesday, Feb. 2nd in the science room at the Deer Park campus. The session will begin at 4:00 and will last one hour. There will be one practice session each week until the Reading and Writing portions of the exam are given (March 16-18). Math and Science portions will be given in April.

LIBRARY POLICY CHANGE
There are currently over 400 items overdue in our libraries. This has become a growing problem. We will no longer be checking out anything to families who have any overdue items. Also, families will be billed for damaged or lost items.

THE SILVERWOOD READING PROGRAM BEGINS TODAY, JAN. 25TH !
Be sure to sign up in either library if you would like to participate.

MAP ASSESSMENTS CONTINUE ON FRIDAYS IN THE DEER PARK LAB
Sign up on-line for morning or afternoon sessions. There is no afternoon session Friday, Feb. 5th.
